What each does well

  • Opus Clip: finds highlight moments in an existing long video, adds captions, reframes to vertical and can post the clips. Its pages do not describe making a video from an idea.
  • Pictory: turns a script, article or link into a video, and long videos into clips; it offers horizontal, vertical and square formats and lists a Shorts generator. Its paid plans state credits and video minutes.
  • Revid: turns a prompt or link into an editable vertical video, publishes to TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and X, and has an Auto-Mode for repeatable content plans. Its own page says no tool can guarantee views.
  • Fliki: says it has more than 2,000 AI voices in over 80 languages and dialects, with avatars and templates for Shorts, TikTok and Reels.
  • InVideo AI: describes itself as an agentic video editor, from an idea or script to storyboard, with voice generation and cloning.
  • VEED: an editing platform with text-to-video, avatars, subtitles and dubbing.
  • CapCut: an editor with AI video generation, automatic captions and Reels and TikTok templates, on the web, desktop and mobile.
  • Ginvid: writes a narrated Short from one idea in a video type you choose (Facts, Top 5, Quiz, True story, Geography, Data and more), lists the sources of researched videos, shows the price before anything is made, narrates in 14 languages, and runs Autopilot for a channel.

How to choose

  • You have a long video or a podcast and want its best moments as Shorts: Opus Clip, or Ginvid's Make Shorts. See how to make a Short from a long video.
  • You have an article, a script or a slide deck: Pictory or Fliki read those directly.
  • You want vertical posts for several social platforms from one prompt: Revid lists publishing to four.
  • You want a faceless channel made from ideas, with a script you review, sources shown and a schedule: Ginvid, or Revid's Auto-Mode. Compare Ginvid vs Revid.
  • You want to edit footage by hand with AI help: an editor such as CapCut, VEED or InVideo AI.

Where Ginvid fits, and where it does not

Ginvid fits when the video starts as an idea and should come out narrated, with pictures or stock footage, captions and a script you can edit, for YouTube or as a file for other platforms. It publishes to YouTube from the studio; TikTok and Instagram posting is not open to customers yet, so for those you download the file.

It is not a timeline editor for arbitrary footage, it has no free plan (Starter is $39 a month, or 10 credits for $9 without a membership), it offers 14 Latin-script languages and not Arabic or the CJK languages, it keeps files for 30 days, and Shorts end at 3 minutes. Plan credits are replaced at each renewal and do not roll over.

How this was compared

Everything said about the other company on this page was read on its own website on 25 October 2026 and is linked at the foot of the page. Where its pages did not say, this page says it does not know. Plans, prices and features change, so check its pricing page before you decide. This page is written by the company that makes Ginvid, so read what it says about Ginvid with that in mind.

Canva is not compared because its pages could not be read for this page, and HeyGen is left out because its home page was not read. A tool missing here is not a judgement about it.

QUESTIONS

Questions

Which AI video generator is best for YouTube Shorts?

It depends on what you start with. From a long video, a clip tool such as Opus Clip or Ginvid's Make Shorts. From an idea, script or article, a generator such as Ginvid, Revid, Pictory or Fliki. For hand editing, an editor such as CapCut or VEED.

Which is the cheapest?

This page does not rank tools by price. Credits, minutes and watermarks mean different things in each plan, so prices on pricing pages cannot be compared directly. Read each plan's limits.

Is Ginvid free?

No. There is no free plan. A new account can have scripts written before it buys anything, and a video needs credits: memberships start at $39 a month, or 10 credits cost $9.

Can any of these tools promise views?

No tool can. Revid's own page says so, and Ginvid makes no promise about views or growth either.
